Brief/Scope:
The aim of the project was to lower the client's carbon footprint, whilst reducing their electricity costs. This proiject was our flagship installation to allow us to gain MCS Accreditation for Solar Photovoltaic and Battery Storage and upskill our exisitng workforce.
The installation:
Through consulation with our client, we ascertained the best two aspects of their property to receive solar panels, which were south and east facing pitches. Due to a slight risk of shading and it being a multi-aspect installation we chose a SolarEdge system, whcih uses optimisation and DC battery storage solutions to maximise generation. The installation comprised of; 18,360 watt full black monocrystalline panels with integral optimisers, an SE 6000 HD wave inverter (located in loft) and 10 KW SolarEdge battery bank (located externally, protected with Keyclamp frame). A provision has been for solar diverter to heat hot water using surplus solar energy.
The results:
The installation was energised after witness testing by the District Network Operator (electriicity supplier) on the 4 July 2023. From then until the 20 October 2023, the client has generated 2.27 MWh units of free electricty. The environmatal benefits to date are 448.3 kg of CO2 Emissions saved (equivalent to 27 trees planted)..
We are very pleased we chose Abbey Electrical for the design and installation of our domestic Solar PV and storage system. Following a site visit Paul used a dedicated design tool to optimise the Solar PV panel layout for our available roof space. Installation was quick and efficient with everything left neat and tidy. The system and the monitoring app was up and running immediately and has dramatically reduced our electricity bills. In sunny months we are now net exporters to the grid and receive payments. We also used Abbey Electrical to install a wall charger for our ev which again was done quickly and to very high standards. Would definitely recommend and use their services again.
