Brief/Scope:
Our client was looking to consolidate area offices to reduce overheads and carbon footprint. To achieve this they leased two floors of a town centre office development. Our brief was to future proof, as far as reasonably practicable, this office space making it fleixible to allow future growth and re-organisation.
The Installation:
We installed an 8 core OM4 Fibre Optic cable between the two floors to two 42U 800mm x 800mm floor standinbg cabinets. This had to run externally in 25mm galvanised steel conduit, to avoid other offices and fire barriers at landlord's request. Over the two floors we installed approximately 300 Cat6 Network points (using low smoke and fume cabing) to 2 cabinet locations within specified communication rooms. Cabinets were sized to allow for installation of necessary switches, servers and un-interrupted power supplies (UPS), both cabinets fed with 2 dedicated power circuits to each to aid resilience. We worked in conjuction with the main contractor, who on this occasion, provided containment.
We have used Abbey Electrical for several years and recently engaged them to fit out data cabling for our new Community offices.
